TITLE:Advanced Electrical Materials and Electrochemical Energy Storage Devices

Abstract:
There is an urgent need to develop advanced electrical materials and devices to meet the needs of the power system with high penetration of renewable energy. Herein, we summarize several types of key electrical materials, including conductive materials, insulation materials, semiconducting materials, magnetic materials and energy storage materials, to analyze the research status and development trend, and put forward the development strategy of the different types of advanced electrical materials. Then this talk will focus on the energy storage materials and devices. The challenge and research progress of long-lifespan liquid metal battery, low-cost soldium ion battery and high-safety aqueous zinc batttery will be presented and discussed.

Biography:
Dr. Kai Jiang is a Cheung Kong Scholar Professor of Electrochemical Energy Storage in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China. He got his PhD from Wuhan University in China at 2006 and worked as postdoc at Auburn University and MIT in USA from 2007 to 2012. Then he joined HUST and focused in the field of advanced materials and technologies for large-scale energy storage applications, such liquid metal batteries, sodium ion batteries and other electrochemical energy storage materials and devices. He has authored 60 patents and published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers on the journals of Nature, Adv. Mater., Energ. Environ. Sci., and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., etc.
